I’ve spent my life unraveling what makes animals tick—bridging the gap between rigorous behavioral science and real-world canine joy. Long before I was running pack adventures or decoding behavior, I was the 11-year-old in the neighborhood walking everyone’s dogs, eventually teaching puppy kindergarten through college.
I’m not your typical trainer or pet care provider. My approach is backed by nearly a decade in neuroscience and biomedical research at institutions like Harvard and MIT, where I studied mammalian behavior, physiology, and welfare (and earned the laboratory nickname “the rat whisperer”). But the true foundation of my work has always been hands-on: four years rehabilitating high-drive rescue dogs at Angell Memorial, apprenticeships in grooming and pet nutrition, and fostering litters from day three of life.
I believe training and care shouldn’t just be about obedience—it’s about building genuine confidence, clear communication, and mutual trust.

Whether she’s skateboarding, playing volleyball, hunting down sweet potato treats, or reminding everyone in the room that she’s three steps ahead of them, Whip embodies the vibrant, confident spirit behind Big Dog Energy.
